Brad Gebauer, Jeremy Orr End Successful Seasons At NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships June 8, 2006
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Junior Brad Gebauer and sophomore Jeremy Orr closed out their successful seasons on the first day of the NCAA Track and Field Championships. Both Gebauer and Orr failed to advance in their respective events. Gebauer (Bad Axe, Mich.), who earned All-America honors during the indoor season for his fourth-place finish at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, could not duplicate his efforts at the national outdoor meet. Gebauer opted to pass on the height of 5.00 meters (16-4 3/4), but missed his first two attempts at 5.15 meters (16-10 3/4) before making the height on his third and final try. The Big Ten indoor and outdoor champion didn't advance to the final round, however, after missing all three tries at 5.30 meters (17-4 1/2), the height needed to advance. Sophomore Jeremy Orr (Detroit) ran his third fastest time of the season in the 400 meters with a 46.46, but still came up just short to advance to the semifinal round. Orr, needing to place in the top 16, placed 18th overall out of 26 competitors.
