The Michigan State gymnastics team finished third at the 2008 NCAA West Regional on Saturday night, in front of 3,507 fans inside of Gill Coliseum on the campus of Oregon State University. The Spartans' finish tied their best placement ever at the NCAA regionals and their best since 1989. MSU has now placed third seven times in its 18 appearances.

After inclement weather in the midwest delayed its arrival, the Michigan State gymnastics team finally reached its destination, Corvallis, Oregon, for the NCAA West Regional Championships. The Spartans arrived Friday morning, although they were scheduled for Thursday night, in time to settle in and take part in the manditory NCAA practice session.

Senior Rhiannon Banda-Scott's perfect 10 on the vault Sunday, earned her Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week honors, released by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. The honor is the first in her career and it is the second straight week that a Spartan earned the weekly conference honor, as sophomore Nicole Curler garnered the award last week.

Banda-Scott Lands Perfect 10 On Senior Day

Michigan State gymnastics posted its highest team score of the season, highlighted by Rhiannon Banda-Scott's perfect 10 on the vault, to post a 196.35-193.475 victory over New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon at Jenison Field House. Banda-Scott's performance set the tone for the afternoon in the first rotation, as the Spartans took a lead in the vault and never looked back. Banda-Scott and fellow seniors Bethany Little and Megan McNally were honored in a pre-meet ceremony to mark their final Jenison Field House appearance of their Spartan careers.
