SOUTH BEND, Ind.-The Michigan State women's track and field team competed at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Jan. 30, in South Bend, Ind. Spartans placed first overall in seven individual events, and for the second time this season, the Spartan squad captured the 4x400-meter relay.

MSU's 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Cynetheia Rooks (Graysburg, N.C.), sophomores Megan Radermacher (Houston, Tex.)and Shannon Radermacher (Houston, Texas) and junior Naomi Williams (Kansas City, Mo.) finished first for the Spartans with a time of 3:55.17.

Also on the track, Shannon Radermacher finished first overall in the 800-meter run (2:12.87), while her sister Megan placed third in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:17.36. In the 200-meter dash and the 60-meter dash, Rooks finished second with times of 24:54 and 7:72, respectively. In the one-mile run, senior Jamie Krzyminski (Corunna) placed third with a time of 4:51.37. Freshman sprinter Genevieve Gourlay (Chelsea) took the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.44.
 

 

In the field events, senior co-captain Sarah Adelaine (Harbor Springs, Mich.) took the shot put (47-6 1/2) and weigh throw (55-3), while junior Mickie Rzepka (Novi) captured the pole vault for the third consecutive week with a leap of 11-11 3/4. Taren James (Long Beach, Calif.) won the long jump (18-9 1/4) and Katrina Kelly (Fort Wayne, Ind.) won the high jump with a leap of 5-7.

Michigan State's women's track and field team will next compete at the Meyo Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7, in South Bend, Ind.
